James Munro -80th Birthday Celebration Concert.

LEADING EUROPEAN MUSICIANS COME TO MIDMILLS PARISH CHURCH

On Thursday 24^th September James Munro, former Administrator of Inverness Chamber Music, will be celebrating his 80^th Birthday by promoting a charity concert in Midmills Parish Church to raise funds for Maggie’s Highlands Cancer Care Centre.

James has invited six of the many leading chamber musicians that have become his friends over his lifetime promoting chamber music to come to Inverness and provide good reason for the generous folk of the city to raid their piggy banks for Maggie’s.

Opening the event at 7.00pm will be pianist Christina Lawrie from London’s Royal College of Music with a selection of short pieces from her extensive repertoire.  Then from Ljubljana, Slovenia, violinist Lana Trotovšek and her partner, flautist Boris Bizjak will centre their programme around the Chaconne from J. S. Bach’s Partita No 2 in D minor, BWV 1004.  After an interval the Kazakh pianist Oxana Shevchenko will be playing her fifth concert in Inverness and this time she is being accompanied by the French violinist Clémence de Forceville (Concertmaster (Leader) of both the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra); and from Berlin the widely acclaimed cellist Benedict Kloeckner.  Together they will play the Schubert Piano Trio No 2 in Eb major, Op. 100, D.929.

Some might say that a birthday isn’t a birthday without a mass of candles on a cake to blow out in one breath.  But eighty?  No chance!  However, there will be nibbles and a glass or two of something.  And maybe some cake if somebody volunteers to bake it.

Car parking within the grounds of Crown Primary School will be available to concert goers from 6.00pm until 10.00pm.  Doors to Midmills Parish Church will be open from 6.30pm
