The new season starts with what Nikita calls “a pair of shoes (Schus)”; the joyous, exhilarating “Trout” Quintet written by Franz Schubert when he was 22 years old and featuring a double bass instead of the more usual second violin; followed by Robert Schumann’s piano quintet, whose wife Clara (the dedicatee of the work) described it as “full of strength and freshness” and “extremely brilliant”.
Tickets can be bought online from one month prior to the performance until 2pm on the day. The cost will be £25 (adult): with reduced price for students and under-18s – £12.
