First, let me reassure you that the musicinverness site remains secure.
However, many of you will know, and be on the mailing list, of James Munro, the musicinverness organiser up to the time the organisation ceased promoting its own musical events.
I received a suspicious email from James’s account this afternoon, asking me to buy an Airb&b gift card from Amazon on “his” behalf (with a promise of reimbursement). I went to his home to check – it became clear that his email account had been hijacked and he was locked out.
I am delighted to report that, following a long conversation with a truly delightful lady at the BT helpline, his email account is back in his control, with a new password.
If you have responded to a similar request from James’s email account, you have been scammed. If you have parted with any money, your best bet is to contact your bank to request reimbursement.
George Farmer.
