Anne Martin and Ingrid Henderson + The Banes o the Turas

Under Canvas, Eden Court Theatre, Friday 19th August – times vary

Lochaber instrumentalist Ingrid Henderson and Skye Gaelic singer Anne Martin have been playing together for many years, delighting audiences worldwide from small intimate venues to concert halls and large festivals. They are both steeped in their tradition and weave both music and story with poignancy and engagement throughout their performances.

The Banes o the Turas is a beautiful weave of music, extracts from the poetry book of the same name, and traditional songs – all of it inspired by the life and legacy of one of Scotland’s most influential figures – Hamish Henderson. The band are Ali Hutton (whistles, guitar), Fiona Hunter (vocals, cello), Barry Reid (guitar, sounds), Lauren Collier (fiddle) and Jim Mackintosh (spoken word) who take you on a journey through Henderson’s childhood in Glenshee, his war years, his work with The Travellers and all the voices of Scotland he would encounter
