Laura Wilkie and Ian Carr

Laura Jane Wilkie from Tain is a highly sought after fiddle and violin player. She was a founding member of Fat-Suit, the Glasgow-based jazz/funk/R&B/synth/folk juggernaut that took the Glasgow scene by storm. Her ability to play with improvisation in different musical genres makes her a versatile influence on many collaborative projects.

Laura has toured worldwide and worked with many artists in the contemporary folk scene including Salsa Celtica, Shooglenifty, Rachel Sermanni, The Elephant Sessions, GRIT orchestra, singer Beth Malcolm and many more.  

For this current tour of Scotland, Laura has teamed up with the brilliant guitar virtuoso  Ian Carr – a true one-off, a bold rhythmic innovator and a master of harmony. As well as working on his own projects he has worked with many of great musicans includiing Eddie Reader, Kris Drever, Kate Rusby and many more.

The performance will be based around her most recent album, VENT. The music on VENT is a bone melting blend of melancholy and beauty, with Laura’s sweeping violin lines joined by Ian’s accomplished acoustic guitar picking.
