Boat of Garten Community Hall, 13th February at 7:30pm.
Message from Ann Napier:
The next concert is a performance by The Connaught Brass Quintet – five highly talented young musicians in their own right, who are quickly making a name for themselves as a fresh ensemble in the chamber music world.
Having already made their debut at the Lucerne Festival and London’s Wigmore Hall, the ensemble’s ability to manipulate and unify sound earned them 1st Prize in the Inaugural Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition (2019) and the Royal Overseas League Mixed Ensemble Competition (2022).
They are described as …Vibrant, spirited and bold, placing emphasis on showcasing their individual musical personalities within a unique collective sound. A “thrilling young ensemble at the start of what is sure to be a major international career” (Great Birmingham Brass Fest)
The Quintet of: Aaron Akugbo – Trumpet: Harry Plant – Trumpet: Sarah Pennington – Horn: Chris Brewster – Trombone: Aled Meredith-Barrett – Tuba, will play the following programme ..
Mogens Andresen – Prelude & Reinlendere from Norwegian Dances
Jean Philippe Rameau arr. Verhelst – Selections from Dardanus
George Frideric Handel arr. Barnes – Largo from Xerxes
